Our Commitment to Overdose Prevention and Community

Founded in 2023, The Royal Rose Foundation is a Black- and woman-led organization rooted in overdose prevention and the belief that education and early intervention save lives. What began as a response to the growing impact of fentanyl and substance use in our communities has evolved into a broader, prevention-centered approach that reflects the realities people face every day. Through our work, we recognize that overdose prevention does not exist in isolation. It is deeply connected to violence, systemic inequities, mental health, and barriers to accessing care and support. These challenges disproportionately impact marginalized communities, and our mission is grounded in addressing those intersections with intention, care, and consistency.

Mi'keyta Bates, LPN Outreach Director

MJ Jackson is the Founder and Executive Lead of the Royal Rose Foundation. With a background in criminal justice, Black Studies, housing stability, and youth and community services, she brings a community-centered approach to advocacy, prevention, and program development. MJ leads the organization’s vision, partnerships, and programs with a commitment to expanding access, addressing inequities, and creating meaningful opportunities for youth, families, and communities.

Mi'keyta Bates, LPN Outreach Director

Mi'keya Bates is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Outreach Director for the Royal Rose Foundation. With a background in healthcare and community engagement, she brings a compassionate, people-centered approach to outreach and prevention. Mi'keyta helps build relationships with community members, schools, organizations, and partners while connecting individuals and families to education, resources, and support.
